Booking your first set of lash extensions is slightly nerve wracking if you do not know what the appointment involves. It is longer than most people expect, quieter than most people expect, and the decisions that matter get made in the first ten minutes. Here is what actually happens.
We start by looking at your natural lashes, because they determine what is possible. Extensions are attached one at a time to individual natural lashes, so the weight your own lashes can carry sets the limit. Someone with strong, dense natural lashes can wear a mega volume set comfortably. Someone with finer lashes will get a better result, and keep their lashes healthier, with a classic or hybrid set. A stylist who tells you every set is available on every client is not doing you a favour.
The set that suits your natural lashes will always look better than the set you saw in a photograph. Lash health is not a technicality, it is what determines whether you can keep wearing extensions a year from now.

Then you lie down and close your eyes, and stay that way. A full set takes a couple of hours because each extension is placed individually. Most clients find it restful, and a lot fall asleep. You will not be able to check your phone, so plan the appointment as time set aside rather than something squeezed between errands.
Come with clean lashes and no eye makeup at all. Mascara residue and oil stop the adhesive bonding properly, and a set applied over either will shed early. Skip oil based cleanser and moisturiser around the eyes that morning. If you wear contact lenses, bring your case, since it is more comfortable to take them out.

Afterwards, keep them dry for the first day while the adhesive fully cures. After that, clean them. This surprises people, but lashes that are never washed collect oil and debris at the base, which loosens the bond and irritates the eyelid. A lash bath every week or two keeps the set looking fuller and lasting longer, and we offer it as a quick standalone service.
You lose natural lashes daily as part of the normal growth cycle, and each one takes its extension with it. That is why fills exist. Most clients come back every two to three weeks. Leaving it much longer usually means paying for a full set again rather than a fill.
If extensions feel like too much commitment, a lash lift and tint gives you curl and definition on your own lashes with no maintenance between appointments. Classic sets start at $120, hybrid at $150, volume at $175 and mega volume at $200, with fills from $75 and a lash lift with tint at $95. Call (347) 894-1757 and we will talk through which makes sense for you.
