How to Choose the Right Facial for Your Skin

A facial menu can read like a list of luxury upgrades, as though the expensive one must be the best one. It does not work that way. The right facial is the one aimed at what your skin is doing right now, and the most expensive treatment on the list is often not it. Here is how to narrow it down before you book.

Start by deciding which of three things you are booking for. Maintenance, where skin is fine and you want it kept clear. A specific concern you want addressed, such as breakouts, dullness, dryness or fine lines. Or an event, where you want skin looking its best on a particular date. Those three lead to genuinely different choices.

Skin does not respond to a single dramatic appointment. It responds to the right treatment repeated at sensible intervals, which is why we would rather book you three sessions of the correct facial than one of the most expensive.

For maintenance, a Basic Cleanup or an Express Facial is usually all that is needed. Cleansing, exfoliation and finishing care, done regularly, keep congestion from building up. Booking these every four to six weeks does more for your skin over a year than one expensive treatment does in an afternoon.

For a specific concern, match the facial to the problem. Breakout prone skin wants an Acne Treatment, which is built around cleansing and calming rather than adding richness. Dull or uneven tone points to a Brightening Facial. Skin that feels tight and thirsty wants a Hydrating Facial or a Hydra Facial, which is our most moisture intensive option. If the issue is texture, rough patches or a build up of dead surface skin, Dermaplaning removes both that layer and the fine surface hair, and makeup sits noticeably better afterwards. Fine lines and loss of firmness point to the Anti Aging Facial.

For an event, timing matters more than the choice itself. Book roughly five to seven days before, not the day before. Extraction and exfoliation can leave skin slightly pink, and it needs a few days to settle into the glow you actually wanted. The Fruit, Gold and Diamond facials are all good pre event options because they leave skin looking bright without asking much of it.

Two things to mention before we begin. Tell us about any allergies or sensitivities, and tell us if you are using retinol, acids or prescription acne medication, because all of them change what your skin can safely tolerate on the day. It is a short conversation that prevents a bad week.

Our facials run from Basic Cleanup at $50 through to Hydra Facial at $200, and if you are unsure where you fit, come in and let us look at your skin properly rather than choosing from a list. Call (347) 894-1757 or book online. We are open seven days a week, 10 AM to 7 PM.
